July 23, 2015
Dear President Jimmy Carter,
I hope all goes well alright for you.
I am sending you my second letter to President Bach of the IOC.
Its content is nearly the same as my message sent on July 17 to Prime
Minister Abe, suggesting to cancel the Tokyo Olympic Games, announcing at the same time the candidature for 2028 or 2032 games.
Two influential television commentators, Jituro Terashima and Narushige
Kishi, referred to the possibility of cancelling the Tokyo Olympic Games in
an influential popular program "Sunday Morning" of July 12,
and this for the first time !
The estimation of the total cost, 2 trillion yen according to President
Yoshiro Mori of the Organizing Committee, has shocked the public. One
hundred times less fund(34.5 billion yen) has been spent for coping
with the contaminated water problem at the Fukushima Daiichi !
The image of the Olympic Games is being decisively tarnished.
A change in the public opinion is certainly taking place.
I am convinced that an honorable retreat from the Games is now the only
adequate solution.
Please allow me to count on your support.
With highest regards,
Mitsuhei Murata
