The 2ndInternational Friendly Run
Opening Speech by Chairman Mitsuhei Murata
Excellencies,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
On this beautiful autumnal day, we are gathered to promote
international friendship in a spirit of solidarity for the victims of
March 11 tragedy of last year.
It is the good health and the good heart that characterize this
International Friendly Run. As the well-known song entitled “Four
Seasons” tells us, the good heart is pure, strong, deep and broad. It
has the power to bridge the long distance between the interested head
and the disinterested heart, achieving the balance between the two.
This balance is indispensable for attaining peace and friendship.
The world faces a serious crisis. We cannot foresee our future, but we
can shape it. With this in mind, let us run today towards the goal of a
bright future, based on solidarity and ethics,

大使閣下、ご参列の皆様
この美しい秋の日に私たちは昨年３月１１日の悲劇の犠牲者の方々への連帯の気持ちを持って集いました。
この国際大使館フレンドリーランを特徴付けるのは健康と良き心です。よく知られた「四季の歌」にあるように良き心は清く、強く、深く、そして広いのです。
この良き心は打算的な頭と無私の心の間の大きな隔たりを狭め両者のバランスをとる力を有します。このバランスは平和と親善の達成に不可欠です。
世界は深刻な危機に直面しております。我々は未来を予見することは出来ません。しかし未来を形成することはできるのです。
本日はどうかこのことを念頭に、連帯と倫理に支えられた輝かしい未来という目標に向かって走ろうではありませんか。
