Subject: World strategy of the worst case scenario of Fukushima
From: Akio Matsumura

Dear eminent scientist friends of Japan

As you are aware well, Super Tyhoon HAGIBIS hit Japan sweeping away radioactive soil and waste.

The events are just beginning to unfold, the amount of radioactive material released into the Pacific Ocean and surrounding environment is unknown.

I am very much concerned about the future worst case scenario which I wish to share with you.

If one of the three crippled nuclear reactors collapsed, it will affect the common spent fuel pool containing 6,375 fuel assemblies. This would certainly cause a global catastrophe we have never experienced.  Mr. Robert Alvarez assessed at the time of accident that roughly 85 times the amount Cs-137 released at the Chernobyl accident.

Fukushima Daiichi Site Cesium-137 is 85 times Greater than at Chernobyl Accident

I think it is a time for core members of scientists of US, Japan and Europe to discuss the strategy on the way how we should bring it to attention of decision makers and public.

I will ask the same message to core members of US and Europe with hope that the positive and practical idea would come up.

Yours truly
Akio
