Dear Ambassador Roos,
The on going nuclear accident jn Fukushima is menacing Japan and the
world It is deeply regretted that the use of nuclear energy was allowed
to continue even after the Three Mile Island accident and the Chernobyl
disaster. The 4 nuclear reactors out of control facing the danger of
meltdown are teaching us the lesson that the usage of nuclear energy
with its fatal effects due to its invisibleÊradioactivity and radiation
isÊimcompatible with ethics.
The innocent population is suddenly placed in a situation out of human
control by an accident and is obliged to accept all sorts of
consequences. NearlyHalf a million residents of Fukushima forced to
seek refuge far away from home are on the brink of despair.
The Japanese population, the first vivtim of the military use of atomic
energy is now going through a huge ordeal resulting from its civil use.
It is the will of goodwilling Japanese people to see to it that Japan
will help the world to change course in the nuclear field to avoid
further tragedies. Irrespective of future development of this disaster.
The whole worldÊshould start regretting the use of energy that has been
proven once again beyond human control. It should never happen again.
I am convinced that you will understand the urgent need for holding the
UN Ethics Summit to share the common vision for the denucleariztion of
the globe, that is to say,"a World Without Nuclear Weapons and Nuclear
Reactors".
Please convey this message to President Obama who,I am convinced, will
fully understand this plea, emanating from Japan menaced by the
ultimate catastrophe.
With highest regards,
Mitsuhei Murata
