Your Holiness Pope Francis,

The dangerously deepening crisis of the world reminds us of the neccessity of a maternal way of thinking in solving conflicts.
Your Holiness has set a precious example. A maternal culture approach characterized the last UN speech of President Obama. In Japan, Former Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama is fully attached to maternal culture.

I am sending his timely message addressed to me on 23 September.

Its gist is as follows;

1. The contamination of the Toyosu fish market could not be removed. We should abandon the project.

2. It is now time to decide on the honorable retreat from the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020, as asserted by Ambassador Murata.
It would be a national disgrace to be forced to do so by criticism from abroad.

3. Japan should care more about Fukushima and natural disasters.
It would be rude to participating athletes, if the Tokyo Olympic Games are utilized to divert the attention of the public from them.

This message is quite appropriate and crucially important.
It is receiving encouraging reactions from influential people.

It could start healing the sickness of Japan and of the world that consists in giving top priority to profits at the expense of life.

Please allow me to count on your understanding and support.

With warmest and highest regards,

Mitsuhei Murata
Former Japanese Ambassador to Switzerland

(Message from Former Prime Minister Hatoyama)
