Dear President Thomas Bach,
I am sending you an article on Tokyo Olympics published today in “The
Indian Express”, a leading English daily in India. It has been sent to
mefrom an eminent Indian statesman with whom I stayed in contact for
decades.
The following subtitle sums up its content.
“The prevalent situation in the world with a Covid-vaccine still not
firmed] up and the virus erupting like a rash, puts an almighty
question mark on the deferred dates of the Olympic Games.”

Popular Japanese actor and aspiring governor candidate Taro Yamamoto
today announced that if elected, he would cancel the Tokyo
Olympics. Elections for the Tokyo governor is slated for July 5. This
is the first time that any political party or its candidate has used
the cancellation of Tokyo Games as its poll plank.
Today, the whole Japan was shocked by the unprecedented arrestation of
two members of parliament, former Minister of Justice and his wife,
close collaborators of Prime Minister Abe. They are suspected to have
violated the election law prohibiting corrupt practices in the last
House of Councillors elections.
A new change in conformity with the law of history that does not allow
immorality to last indefinitely seems to be around the corner.
The Japanese civil society is asking for the decision of the
cancellation of the Tokyo Olympic Games to be made as soon as possible.
With warmest and highest regards,
Mitsuhei Murata
Former Japanese Ambassador to Switzerland
